Savannah's Heart-Warming Story!

Meet our little girl, just 20 weeks old, weighing only 3.5 pounds and she is already faced with a life affecting birth defect. Savannah has been diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis.

SCMR is committed to helping this sweet little girl. We would like to be able to get her the treatment she needs to ensure the great future life she deserves.

Savannah is full of energy. She is enjoying life, playing with her toys and her foster siblings.

SCMR is in need of anyone that may have any information on this disease or contacts that could help us. Please contact us at scmr1@yahoo.com, we would be so appreciative.

Savannah would also appreciate any donation to help her in her health care.

This little jewel is up for adoption. All applications will be carefully considered; selecting the right forever home for her. We will keep everyone posted as to her progress. Please keep Savannah in your prayers.

4/8/10 update: On Monday, April 5th, Savannah was taken to the University of Florida Veterinary School for a second opinion about her heart condition. The doctors there found that Savannah actually had PDA (patient ductus arterious), which is correctable with surgery. This was the best scenario for her, since the other diagnosis was not treatable.

Savannah underwent heart surgery that afternoon, and did very well. There were no complications, and all went as expected. She is at home recovering, wanting to be the playful puppy she was before. However, she needs to be quite and careful for the next 10 days to give her little body a chance to heal.

As you can see from her after surgery pictures, she may look like she is having a bad hair day, but who wouldn't after heart surgery!

To date, the bills for Savannah have exceeded $2500, SCMR is asking for donations to help cover this expense so that we may be able to help still more dogs such as Savannah.

5/27/10 update: Savannah has now been in her forever home for 3 weeks and is doing great! We get updates from her Mom that reports how well she has adjusted to her new family and home. Savannah loves to play and keep her new family entertained for hours on end!

While Savannah has been adopted, SCMR would still appreciate any donations towards her bills which came to just over $3500. We thank all contributors to date and appreciate so much the financial help that was provided that enabled us to help save Savannah's life, for without the surgery she would not have lived to be more than one year old, now with the life saving surgery, she has a very long happy life to look forward to!

9/23/10 update: Savannah's forever mom tells us that Savannah is doing wonderfully and will be going for her checkup next month, where they expect a great report! Savannah loves her sisters, playing hard all day with her toys and the family's shoes!

10/13/10 update: Savannah will soon be 1 year old! It's hard to believe that she will be at the milestone that without her life saving heart surgery she would never have seen. She will also soon be going to her cardiologist for her yearly check up and her forever mom reports they expect for everything to go just fine.

Thanks to all of her wonderful supporters Savannah is a thriving, happy little girl! If anyone would like to make a donation to SCMR in Honor of Savannah that will help future rescues such as her, please do so. Our main source of funding comes from adoptions and donations, which both are down, so any amount would be appreciated! Savannah says thank you and so does SCMR!

11/11/10 update: SCMR would like to share with all that Savannah had her yearly checkup for her heart, and everything was perfect! Her heart is normal, no sign of the issues from before, no heart murmur. Her cardiologist said she did not have to see a him again at all, unless a problem developed that needed addressing. But for now, she is doing wonderfully.

Just think in March SCMR got her, she had heart surgery and is now living the life of a princess, she is now well with no heart issues!
