10/21/11 update: May was adopted and is in her forever home doing great, and is very much loved.
May is a 1½ year old 4 to 5 pound little Maltese girl who was abandoned by her owner
in a church parking lot. Good Samaritans saw poor little May walking around her crate
in the parking lot at about 10 p.m. one night. Once they got a good look at her,
they knew she would need extensive medical care. Calls were made, and SCMR was finally
contacted by Beth Brock, a vet tech at Riverview Animal Hospital,
asking if we would
be willing to take this little girl into rescue.
Of course, SCMR agreed; and she was immediately checked by the vet. The poor little
thing has a horrible case of
Scabies
which is going to take a while to heal since she
has open sores and very little hair. Unfortunately, she is also having to be isolated
in her foster home since Scabies is so contagious.
Many times rescue and/or individuals are scared of taking in an animal or adopting them
when they are in May's condition. We at SCMR are always up for the challenge of caring
for these little ones who are in such desperate need. We will keep you updated on May's
condition and send updated pictures as we can. Everyone will then see what a little time
and love can do for these little ones in need. She will be unrecognizable once she is
available for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting May, please complete an application. Don't let her
current looks deter you. Once she is healed and gorgeous (which we know she will be),
everyone is going to want to adopt this little girl.
